Happy New Year everyone!
Welcome back to all returning students, and welcome to our new classmates starting in January 2022! It’s been a whirlwind of a semester, being online. It’s been an adjustment for many but we made it! We are still online this upcoming semester due to COVID protocols, and as such, here at the ASC we’re going to keep our events online as well. I want to give a huge welcome to our international students who are joining us now in Canada! Time zones have made it difficult for us to connect, but that is no longer the case! While we are unable to host in person events for the time being, at least now we’re in the same time zone! WE ARE AN OFFICIAL STUDENT GROUP AT GBC! We started as a simple discord group as a way to connect with each other during frosh week in 2021, and we moved to become a student group at GBC to gain more access to resources to support fellow students in the T109, T132 and T170 programs. We’ve gotten together to do study groups, helped each other through troubleshooting program issues, and celebrated our successes after difficult tests and assignments! Events We have lots planned for the new semester, here are just a few of the things we have on deck:
The Winter semester is only four months long, so this will be a busy semester full of events for us! If there’s something you’d like to see, please let us know either by messaging us on discord or by email Volunteer opportunities We’re looking for some volunteers to help out with some club functions. It’s a great way to get involved in the club and support your fellow classmates! Here are some ways to get involved Graphics Team We need things like posters to advertise our club and events, and also designs to put on our swag! No experience necessary, but very helpful! If you are interested in helping out on the design team, please email RJ at [email protected] or DM him on discord. Social Media Team Do you have a bangin’ insta? Are you a TikTok star? We’re looking to expand our socials and we need your help! We do require that people have some experience with social media, and can come up with content to share. If you are interested in joining our social media team, please email Denilen at [email protected] or send them a DM on discord. Program representatives We want to make sure that all programs’ interests are fairly represented in our events and programming, so we want representatives from each program, especially Interior Design. If you’re interested in becoming a program representative for this year, please email Julia at [email protected] or send me a DM on discord.

Welcome students! Here's the channels listed under "Welcome", go into the #verify channel and post either a screenshot of your current class schedule (with name visible) or your school ID so we can confirm you are a student, you will then be given access to the rest of the discord. In the text channel you'll find some important info and channels: Our "For Fun" channels are just that, fun! Welcome to the events channels! And finally, the classes and homework help channels!
We will make channels for classes as they are needed. Ask questions about homework, or the material! Help each other out in the voice chats! Team work makes the dream work people! And that's the discord! Come connect with classmates, plan hangouts, get support for classes and have fun! The Architectural Studies Collective grew out of a need for students to connect with each other during this time of online learning, social distancing, and COVID.
